Writing your own resume?

OK. Who here actually loved writing your own resume? Prospective clients often tell me how they struggled writing their resume and then murmur "don't judge me... I know it's bad."

• 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲. The #1 complaint I hear from recruiters is that candidates applying for jobs that aren't a fit. If you've only done 15% of the duties on their list, it may not be the job for you.

• 𝗞𝗲𝘆𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗵𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀. Add keywords and action verb phrases to build interest in your achievements and give them more of a punch. You should be able to extract these from the advertisement you are targeting.

• 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆. Don't be afraid to be proud of your career wins, major deals, or decisions you led. Lead with facts, let them do the talking.

• 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀. If you have tangible results, show them. Numbers and percentages prove your quantifiable contributions and success. Let your metrics do the talking.
